"I joined Healthy Bunch in April 2014, at a time when my blood pressure was quite high and my doctor had mentioned that she was considering putting me on medications.

I asked if she would give me some time to work on changing my lifestyle.

Being a part of Healthy Bunch has helped me refine my ”why” and keep at it regardless of ups and downs. I h

ave lost over 50 pounds and I feel much healthier.

We have a weekly Monday weigh-in which has disciplined me.

Being a part of this support group has been a game-changer for me.

I truly appreciate our coach who has been truly inspirational to me.

“I have always struggled with my weight. When I was a teenager I always wanted to burn the fat.

Most times, I’d starve myself, drink laxative and lose it but it won't be long before the weight is back.

This brought on many nicknames like Elephant, Fatigbola, Iyapati, King-size etc.

I couldn't wear those beautiful fitted gowns that I imagined myself in.

I felt lots of pain in my joints and used to pant for loss of breath after a short distance walk.

I finally gave up the idea of losing the weight and remained the way I was, but my sister told me not to give up.

I was really sad and felt defeated before taking that decision to join a weight loss challenge with my sister.

My able Coach, in whom I am well pleased, Mrs Ikepo Osawaye, whom I met in a cake group created a group called "Healthy Bunch" and asked if anyone was interested. This was when I became part of the group.

She encouraged and taught us how to live a healthy lifestyle and I was able to lose the desired weight. I am now wearing my fitted hot gowns and have kept off the weight.

I feel really healthy and fly.

All the joint pains are gone.

This gives me more confidence and my self esteem has skyrocketed ever since."

“In 2012 I lost my elder sister in the Dana Air Crash. It was a devastating period of my life as I had also lost my Mum in similar circumstances about 13 years before then.

I was the last person she spoke to before the sad incident that took her away from us...so I spiraled into depression and mindless eating. Quickly, the weight piled on and around then I met Coach Ikepo. We belonged to ICES (International Cake Exploration Société) as confectioners.

She understood my weight related challenges, since she experienced similar. Two years later, she invited me to join the Healthy Bunch support group. The remarkable thing about joining this group for me was the fact that we had so much support from Coach Ikepo. She did a lot of research on what we could do to lose and maintain weight loss and knew how to show empathy. We fast became one big family.

Weight loss is a very emotional journey and I believe that only someone who understands your pain can genuinely support you. Her discipline and her unique ability to "face realities" also helped. We have been up, down and somewhere in between but we always understand that we can do so much more than we think.
