How do you maintain good eating habits?

Maintaining good eating habits on your weight loss journey is crucial. The body needs the different food groups both in the form of macro nutrients and micro nutrients.

The right portion too is important depending on your goal, age, activity, sex, body fat composition, and weight.

There is a main focus to achieving weight loss and that is to maintain a calorie deficit. So that what you're consuming is less than what your body expend in energy daily. Your coach will help determine this depending on different factors.

You must not deprive yourself too much or starve. This could mess up your metabolism and that's why a lot of people gain so much back within a short time after one detox or the other. Your body starts to hold the food eaten because it's not having adequate amount and thinks there is famine and it becomes difficult to lose weight.

Eat breakfast, mid day snacks (fruits or vegetables, nuts), Lunch, evening snacks (vegetables and seeds ), dinner. Form a routine that works for you. Try not to overeat at each meal. Also do not overshoot on your snacks especially on nuts as they are calorie dense though nutritient dense.

If you don't plan then you are planning to fail. Meal planning and preparation is important. Recommended daily calorie allowance varies depending on your goals. But on an average for a female adult you want to do 1,500kcal a day.

Get yourself educated on the foods you consume and tweak them accordingly. You should have good sources of carbohydrates, proteins, fats in your meals. Also foods with minerals and vitamins which are the micronutrients and essential in body functions.

Moderation and focus on controlling your portions, forming the right routine and making the right choice of eating clean. It requires discipline.

Cut down on processed foods. Processed foods are laden with salt, sugar, preservatives and unhealthy additives. Eat more fresh produce and foods.

Water is important and drinking 2-3 litres of water daily is recommended depending on how active you are for proper cell functioning and metabolism.

Forming good eating habits starts at the grocery store.Your choices there determines your success on this journey. Form the habit of buying healthy foods and get your family interested gradually too. Then in the kitchen your cooking method and ingredients you use.

No frying instead stir fry, boiling, steaming, grilling, baking. Definitely your portions too. Food is 80% and exercise 20%. You cannot exercise away a bad diet.

Be Intentional about unlearning bad food habits and look for good healthy substitutes.
